Setting sail...

I was given a couple of sailboat stickers and they'd been laying on my desk for far too long. I decided it was time to use them.

I thought these stickers would make some great masculine cards.

This first sailboat sticker reminded me of a book I finished reading not long ago. It is titled "Over the Edge of the World" and was written by Laurence Bergreen. It is the story of Magellan's espedition to find the Spice Islands and circumnavigate the world. It's a fascinating read and I highly recommend it. Anyway, the five boats under Magellan's command may have looked something like this one.

I used a couple of stencils on my oval--one for the clouds and one for the ocean. I first taped off the edge in order to leave a white border.

The oval is popped up on foam tape.

I wanted to add some interest to the inside of the card, so I stenciled the panel to create some fluffy clouds. I cut my computer-printed sentiment out with an oval die and adhered it over the clouds.

This sailboat sticker sheet also included a lighthouse and a seagull, so I used them both on this card. The lighthouse was connected to dark blue "waves." I didn't want to try to pry it off, so I simply created some more "waves" with some lighter blue cardstock to fill in the rest of my panel. I used a large scalloped edge die that was very close to the size of the darker scallops.

This card is much plainer on the inside with just a stamped sentiment.

The sailboat stickers I used on these cards were pretty detailed with their sails, flags and ropes (threads). I know they would have been quite costly, as far as stickers go. The only ones I buy nowadays come from Dollar Tree!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day.

Look at you Cherylm rockin' the masculine cards. These are great ocean scenes. I use a lot of sailboats on masculine cards.

What great masculine cards - I always seem to need more masculine cards. Always tend to do flowers etc. I have a sailboat stamp so might make couple of cards this afternoon while mister and daughter watch the ball game.

Great masculine cards - I always seem to have lots more girl cards than masculine. The sailboat stickers were perfect. I have a sailboat stamp and lighthouse so just may use them. Hopefully will get some time in my room while mister and daughter watch the ballgame.
