Baby shower papercrafts...

My daughter is hosting a shower today for her SIL who is having her first baby. I was so pleased when she asked me to help with a few of the papercrafts for the shower. She had a brilliant idea when she sent me some paint chips in the colors she wanted to use for all the decorations. She also set up a "secret" Pinterest board where she and I could post ideas and leave comments on them.

Here's what I helped make for the shower:
First I worked on the invitations. Please excuse the blurred out lines. I just didn't want to share personal information with the world. I fussy cut some little diaper shapes, folded them together and pinned them with a tiny gold pin. The teal border and all of the text was done in Word on the computer.
You can see in this photo that I put a dimensional inside the diaper to give it a little added puffiness. I think these really were cuter in person. The pictures just don't do them justice.

Next I made a banner welcoming the new little one. Yes, it's a boy, in case you were still wondering. I cut the banner flags from the Cindy Loo cartridge and the letters were cut from the Cricut Font and Basic Shapes digital cartridge.

This cute little umbrella was cut from Kate's ABCs, and I'm not sure which cartridge I used for the scalloped circles - probably CTMH-Art Philosophy.

I thought I'd also show you a close-up of a couple of the flags. They're pretty plain, but I thought that my daughter could add some embellishment if she wanted to.

I also made some nut/candy cups. They are made from the "flower pot box" image on the Cindy Loo cartridge. I inked the scalloped edge to give it a little more dimension. The butterflies are not attached - they are just some that I punched out for my daughter to use as accents on any or all of the items I sent her. When I took this photo, I only had these big old mints to put in the little cups. I'm sure my daughter will fill them with much prettier candies!

Finally, I made her some cupcake wrappers and picks with flags.  I used some of the Play-Doh that I keep on hand for the grandkids to show what they would look like with a cupcake inside. That actually looks pretty terrible, doesn't it? The real cupcake with some luscious frosting will look MUCH better! I hope my daughter sends me a picture.

The wrappers were cut from the Cindy Loo cartridge and the flags were hand cut. Did you notice that I glued a tiny pearl bead to the top of each toothpick? I thought this finished off the cupcake flags quite nicely.

Well, that's it. I wish I could attend the shower, but it is being held 500 miles away. I hope it goes smoothly and that the new mom gets lots of wonderful items for her new little one.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day.

Everything was PERFECT!!! I got so many compliments on everything you made. I didn't even realize this, but those colors actually happened to be the color of the baby's nursery! Yay!
