I made this card, intending for it to be a masculine birthday card. It didn't turn out quite as masculine-looking as I would have liked, but I think it's okay.
I cut my DSP at 4" X 5 1/4" and adhered it to a rust-colored A2 cardbase.
I had some leafy sprigs in a light tan color in my stash. I wanted them to stand out more, so I grabbed an alcohol marker and colored them.
The sentiment was stamped with a couple different colors of ink in order to get the right shade. Whenever I don't have a specific shade of ink, I start stamping in a light shade and then stamp on top of that with another shade, and still another, if needed. It takes some trial and error, but I've gotten better at figuring out what inks will give me the shade I want.
The sentiment was die-cut and popped up with foam tape.
I stamped a sentiment on a white panel for the inside and adhered it. Then I realized that nowhere on the card did it actually say, "Happy Birthday." To remedy that, I stamped "Happy Birthday" onto a scrap of white cardstock and used a punch to cut it out. I backed that with a slightly larger circle and adhered it to the inside as you see in this photo.
As we say in the cardmaking world, "There are no mistakes, just opportunities."
Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day.

Your card is cute and the sentiments are fun. The circles do look a little bit like doilies so I see why you think it wasn't particularly masculine. I think if you had sponged some light brown or tea dye ink over the circles it might give a more masculine feel
I think it's a dandy masculine card. I like that sentiment on the inside, too. Well-done, Cheryl!
A perfect masculine card. I LOVE the saying on the inside! It made me laugh!
