Let's Craft and Create Challenge #216: Anything Goes or (option) Red, Pink and/or White...

The long, cold days of January have come and gone and Spring will be here before we know it. In the meantime, I have been making oodles of pink, red and white cards. I'm sure you have guessed that I've been working on Valentines. I decided to share three of them with you here. I hope they inspire you to make some, too.

You can see some more wonderful creations from the Design Team at Let's Craft and Create. I hope you'll join in this month's challenge. If you're not a fan of pink, red and white, you can always enter with an "Anything Goes" project.

These Valentines were all made as "bookbinder" fun folds. The front of the card is scored from top to bottom 1 1/4" from the left side. This score becomes a valley fold and this part of the front is glued to the back of the card, creating the "binding."

For this card, I began with some patterned cardstock that was 4 1/4" X 11". I scored it along the long side at 4 1/4" and 5 1/2".  After gluing the "binding" together, I added a strip of plain pink cardstock to that section and added a die-cut flourish.

For the main part of the card, I die-cut a fancy heart, did a bit of inking around the edges, and then glued it directly to my card front. Finally, I punched a few small hearts, adhering the small ones and popping up the larger ones with dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped and also popped up with foam tape.

This card was made in the same manner as the first, but this time the plain, pink strip of cardstock on the left was dry-embossed and lightly inked.

The largest heart was dry-embossed, inked around its edges and glued directly to the card front. The lacey-edged heart was die-cut, inked around its edges and popped up with a foam square onto the center of the larger heart. I also used a pink gel pen to add some stitch lines next to the lacey edge.

The smallest heart was punched out, inked around its edges and popped up in the center of the medium heart.

To help the sentiment stand out, I ran a pink stamp pad along its edges and then popped it up with foam tape.

This was my favorite card of the three. It has a pale pink card base, and I used two different patterns of DSP, matted with white.

Instead of adding embossing or a flourish to the "binding", I added a narrow white ribbon tied in a bow.

I die-cut the darker pink vine heart, glued it to some white cardstock and carefully cut around it. Then I stamped "I love you" in the center, added one tiny pink gem and popped it up on my card.

I added a white 4" X 4" panel with a stamped sentiment to the inside of each card.

I hope you'll join us for this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create. I think you'll have as much fun as I did.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day.

Cheryl
