And they lived happily ever after...

I had a couple of 8 1/2" X 11" sheets of embossed vellum. I wanted to try something a little different with it, so I cut a panel that was 4" X 5 1/4" to use on a white cardbase. The vellum was plain, translucent, white vellum, and I wanted to jazz it up a bit.

I grabbed a light purple Distress Oxide ink pad and lightly swiped it over the embossed side of the vellum. I used a circular motion, going first clockwise and then counter clockwise to make sure I got into all the nooks and crannies of the design.

Distress Oxide is slow to dry, so I let the panel sit overnight. The next day, I used a paper towel to wipe away any excess ink. That left the pretty shading you see in the photos.

The vellum was adhered to the card front with double-sided tape. The purple shading keeps the tape from being visible.

I stamped a sentiment and cut it out. I die-cut both sides of a strip of white cardstock with a lacy edge die. Then I added a strip of purple cardstock before adhering it to the card front.

The sentiment was popped up with a thin foam strip and centered on the purple piece.

I stamped a sentiment on the inside to finish the card.

I'm going to try this technique with more ink colors. The pretty embossed pattern really pops when the ink is added, and I think it looks elegant enough for a wedding card.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day.
