I recently ordered some laser-cut butterflies online. They were very inexpensive and I thought they'd be helpful in making some quick cards. When they arrived, they were a lot bigger than I expected, but I'll use them anyway.
Here are my first two cards made with them:
If you've followed my blog for very long, you know I love all things purple. I couldn't resist using some purple DSP I had on hand for the background.
The paper that the butterflies are cut from is quite thin and delicate, so I glued them directly to the DSP.
I added some purple gems and a sentiment, which was popped up with foam tape.
I stamped a sentiment on the inside and added a tiny punched butterfly.
I messed up the bottom edge of this card front, so I added a lacey border to cover it. I think the saying goes, "There are no mistakes in cardmaking, just opportunities."
I liked the clear gems better than the purple gems. These didn't stand out quite so much.
The sentiment was stamped, die-cut and popped up with thin foam strips.
And on the inside, I stamped another sentiment and added a punched butterfly.
We are hunkering down in our homes today because of the super cold weather. Our heating bill is going to be sky high this month! It got down to about -20F air temp last night with wind chills in the -30 to -40 range. I worry about homeless people in weather like this. I sure hope they have found warm shelter.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day.

Perfect combination for the two of us--you love purple, I love butterflies. Your butterfly cards are beautiful. I love the delicate laser cut butterflies. Even if it was a mistake, the scalloped border looks intentional.
Both are very pretty! I like the inside sentiments, too. I think I like the purple gems a little bit more. :-) Stay warm!!
Beautiful cards. It makes me long for spring. The subzero temp here is awful. I like winter but I don't like living in the freezer! Stay warm!
Beautiful cards Cheryl and great save with your pretty border, I would never have guessed it was a surprise addition!
Goodness I can hardly imagine how cold it is with you, we think it's bad if it goes below freezing here! Stay warm and stay safe, sad news from your city today xx
Both are very pretty - but - I love purple as well. Stay in with this cold weather and create more!!!!
I love purple too, so admire your card. I hate what things are going on too so am just staying in and creating and sleeping.
