I decided I wanted to make a couple of simple graduation cards to donate to the thrift store. I wanted the cards to be neutra; that is, not to reflect specific school colors. That way, anyone could use them.
Here is what I came up with:
I have two dies that cut images of celebrating male and female graduates. I hadn't used them on a card yet this year, so I pulled them out to use them on these cards.
After cutting the graduate image, I also cut a long, stitched banner from matte silver cardstock. After gluing it to my card front, I felt the card was a little "blah." What would liven it up? A little sparkle, of course!
I dug through my glitter ribbons and found some self-adhesive gold and silver ribbons that were about 5/8" wide. I cut a length from each and fish-tailed one end.
I think the glitter ribbon added just the right amount of pizzazz.
It occurred to me that these banners look a little bit like the gold and silver cords that are given to honor students to wear when they graduate.
Now, the only thing left to do to finish the front was to stamp the sentiment.
I made the feminine card the same way, except for using gold instead of silver. The large banner is also matte, like the silver one.
These cards could definitely be made with banners in school colors, if you have a specific graduate in mind.
This is the sentiment I stamped on the inside of each card.
I was pleased with how these turned out and took them to the thrift store yesterday. I usually donate graduation cards throughout the month of May, so I'll be making a few more.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day.

Great graduation cards.
These are great. I like the versatility of silver and gold. I like silhouettes also, you don't have tp color them. Makes for a quick card.
