My oldest daughter's birthday is June 27th and we celebrated with her a few days ago. Here is the card I made for her:
I made the sky background paper by sponging some ink against a torn cloud-shaped piece of cardstock. I found a basic template for a sole shape online, printed it out on cardstock in two different sizes and used it as a template to hand cut my own flipflops. The little flowers were made with a Recollections punch and attached with a tiny brad. The straps were formed with a single piece of narrow ribbon and adhered between the two layers of the flipflop.
The sand is formed from some strips of torn sandpaper and the shells were cut with my Cricut from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. I inked the shells' edges and added some dots with my Aqua Markers to make them look a little more (hopefully) realistic.
This card was so much fun to make, that I decided to make two more--one for each of my twins. Here are their cards:
This time, I used some cloud patterned paper, cutting the background so that a white cloud was in the right place to stamp "Happy Birthday."
I finished the inside of the cards with a coordinating mat, a shell stamp, which is one of those dollar stamps I picked up at Michael's and a decorative strip that was made with an EK Success punch.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to laugh--a little or a lot--every day!

Love the cute flip flops. Great idea for the sand paper. I'm definitely raiding my husband's workshop.
Well Cheryl you have hit the nail on the head so to speak as it seems everywhere I look this year it is flipflops! I'm sure the girls all liked the card and had a great birthday. They are very cute and inventive! pj
